John Fisher Sixth Form Celebrates Strong A Level Results
Students and staff at The John Fisher School are celebrating an excellent set of A Level results in 2026, with significant improvements across almost all of the school’s key measures.
Almost half of all A Level grades were awarded at A*–B, while more than three-quarters were at A*–C. The proportion of the very highest grades also rose strongly, with 22.3% of entries achieving A or A*. The overall A Level pass rate was an impressive 98.4%.
The results continue the strong upward trajectory of recent years. Average points per A Level entry increased to 34.4, compared with 32.1 last year, while the proportion of A*–B grades rose to 48.8% and A*–C grades to 76.9%. Particularly encouraging value-added outcomes were recorded in a number of subjects, including Art, English Literature and Chemistry.
There were some outstanding individual performances, including one student who achieved a remarkable four A* grades.
Students following vocational courses also enjoyed considerable success, with the average BTEC outcome rising to a Distinction and a strongly positive value-added score.
Headteacher Robert Teague said:
“We are delighted for the boys. These results represent a great deal of hard work, determination and perseverance on their part, supported by exceptional commitment from their teachers. What is particularly pleasing is the improvement across such a wide range of measures and the number of boys who have secured the grades they need to move on to excellent universities, apprenticeships and other opportunities.
“Results days rightly focus on grades, but behind every result is an individual story. We are immensely proud of what this group of young men has achieved and, even more importantly, of the way in which they have grown during their time at John Fisher. We wish every one of them the very best for the future.”
The school congratulates all members of the Class of 2026 and thanks the Sixth Form team, subject teachers, support staff and families whose encouragement and dedication have contributed so much to their success.
