JOHN FISHER SCHOOL

COMMITMENT TO SERVICE

At The John Fisher School. we believe that faith is best expressed through action. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus and the values of Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage our students to serve others and make a positive impact in their communities. Through service projects and charity fundraising, our students learn the importance of compassion, generosity, and responsibility.

From supporting local food banks to raising funds for global humanitarian causes, our initiatives provide meaningful opportunities for students to live out their faith in service to others. By participating in these projects, they develop leadership skills, empathy, and a deeper understanding of social justice.

Our school community works closely with charities, parishes, and international missions, ensuring that our efforts reach those most in need. Whether through volunteering, fundraising events, or outreach programs, we empower our students to be agents of change, bringing hope and love to the world.

Recently, students have raised funds for Aid to the Church in Need, Young Minds, The South East Cancer Centre (Purley), The Lily Pad Appeal (Croydon University Hospital), the Catholic Children’s Society and Macmillan Cancer Care.

Our ‘Three Peaks’ expedition helped raise £5,500 for The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation. This student-led fundraiser showed the true spirit of JFS students as they helped raise money to fund the production of a drama production which now tours schools all over the UK helping educate students about drugs.

The John Fisher School also supports a range of charities including the Poppy Appeal, Teenage Cancer Trust, Lepra and St. Catherine’s Hospice. The school is rightly proud of its work with local special schools through the Para-Ability Challenge and Panathlon Games. Pupils are involved in fundraising for national charities such as WaterAid, Blind Veterans UK and our partnership work with Koning School in South Africa (£3546 was the school’s most recent contribution). We have also supported with humanitarian disasters in East Africa and Syria.
