At John Fisher we follow the OCR specifications for A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Students are taught by specialist teachers and have six lessons per fortnight in year 12, five in year 13.

As a department, we value practical work highly and all students will take part in required practical work (PAGs) to achieve their practical endorsement certificate. This is a requirement of many Universities and all top Universities to get onto a Science degree course.

Students are kept informed of lectures at university and outreach course via our information noticeboard in the main Science block and via twitter: @johnfisherSTEM.

As a department, we organise trips to the new A-level Live! Lectures in each discipline. Details are distributed during term 1.

A-level Chemistry students also get the opportunity of attending an A-level master class at Queen Mary’s University London in the summer of year 12 or the first term of year 13.
