The school has a duty to ensure that every individual child is given the best possible chance of achieving their potential, and as a Catholic school we take pride in our track record of dealing with each pupil’s individual needs.
Use of Pupil Premium funding
Pupil Premium funding targets students who are presently entitled to free school meals (FSM) or have been on FSM in the past six years (classed as ever 6 students).
We should all have high expectations of every child regardless of their background. Not all Pupil Premium children underachieve but statistically are at most risk of so doing. Nationally it is a fact that Pupil Premium pupils have low overall attainment and the difference between these pupils and others is often referred to as ‘the gap’. The funding therefore should be focussed on activities which have a high impact and have measurable outcomes in closing the gap. It is every teacher’s job to be aware of the identity of these pupils and how, in their own classroom, they can be instrumental in improving their attainment.
