At the John Fisher School, Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) is an integral part of the preparation for students into the transition of the responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
Our Careers Advisor is Fraser Shadwell from Prospects, a careers advice provider which our school contracts to provide pupils with independent advice and guidance.
Fraser is available in school on Mondays every week in term time, when the majority of her time is spent carrying out individual careers interviews, but he also supports the range of careers education activities organised by the school. He is also available at Parents' Evenings, particularly in the key years when transition decisions are made. Fraser can be contacted via Mrs Okonkwo, our LRC Manager.
The Careers Education Framework 7-19 identifies that Careers Education should provide the following;
A variety of events form part of the programme across all key stages, encouraging students to consider a wide variety of career opportunities. CEIAG encourages self-awareness as students examine their strengths, weaknesses, qualities and potential. This helps develop a positive view of themselves, raise aspirations and take responsibility for their own career plans.
